Lance Armstrong is a prime example of mans inhumanity to man.
My Grandad fought his way through Dunkirk, Africa, South Italy and eventually Germany in his contribution to the war effort.
He died a few years ago leaving several medals in a cardboard box. Some memorabilia and not much else.
I’m sure he had seen unspeakable horrors during his service and I was too young to ask him about them at the time. I remember he was always very pleased to see us and I always remember my brother and me sleeping in their room in Putney when we went to stay at their house in London.
Snorer! Wow he snored for England! But he also was a good postman and the alarm went off at 4:30am even on the Saturday morning that we went to stay.
He loved being a postman and he was always welcoming my brother and me to the breakfast table for a fry up when he finished his shift.
I was watching “Band of Brothers” recently and you know I really began to reason why so many men were sacrificed during that terrible war, men such as my Grandad who was one of the lucky ones to come back alive.
When I questioned my Dad who himself made it to Major in the Army, my Grandad would have been a good sargeant major. Probably not liked on the whole but someone who got the job done.
Someone who lead from the front.
My Grandad always used to make me eat the bacon rind from the plate as it “was the best bit”. He used to make me laugh when he used to take the rind from all the plates that left it at the table.
He is someone that I will always remember for being a hardworking SOB
The type of person that would have no truck with our benefit ridden culture today.
Lance Armstrong cannot hold a candle to my Granddad.
This is a man who has to look up the word “cheat” in the dictionary to try and prove to himself that he was not guilty.
I told you. I mean I didn't feel so good about it. But the itchings were there.
A Man who lied so many times that Lying just became natural.
Who sued people that went against him even though he knew he was perpretating another lie.
The horrible point about all this is that he thinks he can come back and race again.
Do you feel sorry for him? Do you feel that he should be treated better?
Of course not. The horrible truth is that he duped everybody for financial game.
