All eyes will be turning to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend as the Formula 1 season heads into its final three races, meaning the points that are up for grabs mean more than at any other stage of the campaign. This weekend is also the final race to be held in Asia this year.
If there were any doubts that the battle for the Drivers Championship was anything other than a two-man battle, they have been banished now after Sebastian Vettel managed to claim his fourth victory in as many races in India over the weekend. This could have opened a big gap between him and Fernando Alonso, but the Spaniard managed to finish in second place and keep the deficit to just 13 points.
With Kimi Raikkonen in third place in the standings, but a huge 54 points behind, it does look as though the other drivers will be heading to Abu Dhabi to race for pride and to get their team up the Constructors Championship table.
Everyone will be watching Vettel and Alonso though as they battle it out for top spot. At the moment it is tough to see anything but another win for the current World Champion as he is in superb form and his team, Red Bull, are making all the right decisions.
With two wins in three years on this circuit as well, he certainly has the knowhow in this part of Asia.
One thing is for sure though, Alonso will fight right until the end and any mistake that the German driver makes is sure to be punished
It is Vettel’s team Red Bull that are at the top of the Constructers Championship as well, by 91 points. Mark Webber is the other driver for the team of course and he will be looking to accumulate more points to try and secure the title.
Lewis Hamilton was the winner in the last Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and he will be looking to end his frustrating season, and his McLaren career on a high. He and teammate Jenson Button are also looking to overhaul Ferrari, who sit just ten points ahead of them in the current standings.
With so much at stake in this race and the supporters from Abu Dhabi sure to come out in their thousands, we are in for a very entertaining weekend of Formula 1 and not a moment of it is to be missed at this stage of the campaign.
