All to prove -PottechinnoHaving just dispensed with the services of Nigel Adkins, Southampton have shot themselves in the foot.

That's how it appears on the outside looking in anyway.

If you thought Benitez had it rough when he started his Chelsea Stewardship, spare a thought for the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino who begins his Southampton reign kicking off with a home fixture against Everton.

Having just dispensed with the services of Nigel Adkins, Southampton have shot themselves in the foot.

If you thought Benitez had it rough when he started his Chelsea Stewardship, spare a thought for the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino who begins his Southampton reign kicking off with a home fixture against Everton.

The fans are sure to be in revolt – Adkins took Southampton from the bottom reaches of Division one into the promised land of the premiership and his sacking on the outside makes no sense whatsoever.

I have this game down as a draw in the weekly betting race but all the money is going on an Everton win – with good reason.

Everton have had nine days to prepare for this game which gives them a slight advantage over the Saints who came back from 2-0 down to snatch a draw against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Going into this match both teams are in a good run of form and Everton have a very real chance of getting into the Champions League places but to do so they will need to win these fixtures – away against inferior opposition.

Everton have only lost three games so far this season and their away form has been good – snatching wins in the dying embers of games to maintain their push for glory.

I'm going to stick with the original prediction – a draw but I'd be erring on the side of Everton and in particular Fellaini to score at 7/1 if I was previewing again.

Get 7/1 that Fellaini scores the first goal - a £10 bet returns £80
