You get the feeling that If Dirk Kuyt was still a Liverpool player then he would be a Klopp favourite. The faithful Labrador that retrieved everything and never stopped running.
He could score goals too and was a terrific player for Liverpool. If only Lallana could add the goals to his game that Kuyt had then he too may become a Kloppite instead of looking like he is heading for the door marked “exit”.
As I've pointed out before the lack of height and physicality in the Liverpool team is their undoing. Upgrading Lallana to Kuyt for the trip to Norwich can exist sadly only in my dreams.
And what of Benteke? He looks better out of the box than in it and when called to defend corners he is imperious in the air. Perhaps he could be converted to a centre back in our hour of need rather than sitting on the bench for eighty minutes every game.
Norwich present a problem. They are well organised and a good defensive team. Something Liverpool have struggled with this season. I envisage Firminho, Ibe and Lallana once again trying to unpick the lock leaving Benteke kicking his heels.
If the deal for Teixera goes through and if/when Daniel Sturridge returns it looks like there are going to be too many passengers on the train and someone is going to have to get off.
Joe Allen deserves a start for Liverpool. He was the best player on the pitch against Exeter and he deserves a chance to impress, sadly though it looks like his days are numbered as well. Perhaps Klopp will make him captain against Norwich and it will become a recurring theme – made captain before being shown the door.
It looks like Daniel Sturridge is going to have to get used to being 100% fit before he plays again. I can see what the manager is driving at. He returns at 80% plays a game and then gets injured again and the cycle keeps repeating so expect him to be out for a while until he regains full fitness. The purchase of Texeira is a good insurance policy.
With the current Premier League goal drought just seeming to run on and on it's difficult to see where the goals are going to come from and so I'm going for the draw.
