Finally the Angst of watching a team struggle manfully to try and come anywhere near the imperious Liverpool teams of the late seventies and early eighties are beginning to disappear.

These are good days to be a Reds fan and it’s made even sweeter seeing the abyss that is swallowing up the Red half of Manchester.

Make no mistake. Even though the knives are fully sharpened for David Moyes, he hasn’t yet had a chance to try and bring in the players he badly needs to rejuvenate a tired franchise. His director of football or whatever he is called is pretty green behind the ears and the United Hierarchy are as much to blame for getting into this mess as the manager.

Firstly allowing him to sack the entire backroom staff with years of experience was a huge mistake. Didn’t Liverpool do that one when they did away with the fabled “boot room”? Graeme Souness was to blame for that and I’m sure if he had his time again he would have done a lot of things differently.

Trying to change things too quickly was his undoing and Moyes’ is in the unfortunate position of not being able to change anything at all. That Zaha thing though is a bit odd.

Secondly, expecting the manager to have as much “gravitas” with the existing players was never going to happen and he needs to bring in players who are going to play for him. Whatever you say about Sir Alex Ferguson (Respect Dude!), his ability to get every last ounce of ability out of “above average” players is there for everyone to see.

Of course I am not going to gloat over their table position. Why would I? After being a top eight side for so many years you learn humility and the pain of watching your team trying to live up to star billing haunts you in your dreams.

I went to Old Trafford once about twenty years ago and watched the queuing away fans get spat upon by the home “supporters”, whilst I waited to get in the ground with my mate who was a United supporter. He’d got tickets you see and I always remember running back to the car in Salford just before kick off because he had left them in the glove box!

Phil Babb made a horrible error on that day as I remember and I think the mancs won 2-0. I have his “sixty minutes with Phil Babb” recorded this week from the LFC channel so it will be interesting to watch tomorrow morning when I catch up with Mad Men and other TV stuff.

Anyway you didn’t come here to hear me ramble on about United and past players did you! Nah! You want some betting tips!

First of all the disappointment of losing to Arsenal in the FA Cup has to be put into context. Liverpool were more than the equal of Arsenal and only an off day for Daniel Sturridge meant they lost that game. I’m going to take a leaf out of my own book and not complain about refereeing decisions! It’s not going to change anything.

I think Liverpool will win this game. They have a good record at home and the crowd is beginning to sense that something special is happening here. I believe it is too. I think in Brendan Rodgers we have someone who can go on to be one of the greats. If not the greatest.

I’ve said that before and those who scoff will have to eat their scarves.

The odds on Liverpool winning are 3/10 so everyone thinks the Reds are nailed on favourites but what’s this? Bet365 are offering 11/1 that Swansea pull off an unlikely win.

That’s your bet man. Swansea may have got rid of Laudrup but they are not that poor a side and whilst it is unlikely they will win, those odds are just too good to ignore.

Anyway I love putting my money on the opposition when a win is in the bag – you won’t feel so shit when they score with their only chance of the match and we hit the woodwork ten times.

Henderson is 14/1 also at Bet365 to score first and I have to say those are poor odds. You would need 50/1 to even consider it. Come on Jordan, prove us all wrong and nail a beauty in the top left instead of blazing over the bar again.

Suarez is 11/4 to be first goal scorer and that has also got to be a good bet. He’s on a mini drought at the moment and he’s too good to keep down so that’s a recommended bet.

When it comes to betting that spare pound you found down the back of the sofa or in your Moneybookers account or that Neteller account you forgot you had how about putting it on a Reds outstanding display of the season and they tear Swansea a new one?

It’s interesting that you can get 50/1 across the board for Liverpool to win 6-0 but Betvictor are offering 90/1 for the same result so that’s the destination for your pound.

So here are your bets:

Swansea to win at 11/1 Bet365

Suarez first goal scorer 11/4 Bet365

Liverpool to win 6-0 90/1 at Betvictor.

Happy Betting!
