These reversals happen too often to be unlucky.

Admittedly Ben Foster had a blinder but from over twenty shots on goal Liverpool failed to score and from three the Baggies managed two.

Just when you think the team is moving forward they put in a shoddy performance that will have the manager perplexed at the imbalance of it all. Three home wins on the spin scoring twelve goals and conceding none mixed in with two good away performances at Arsenal and Manchester City -followed by this abject display that was littered with simple passing mistakes.

If the players are believing their own hype of the past few weeks then this will have brought them down to earth with a bump.

Suarez needs to stop complaining like a spoilt little child every time he gets fouled. Get up and get on with the game man. His awful play acting is starting to grate and his attitude is why Liverpool are not grinding out wins when they play badly.

You can't fault his work rate but the constant harassing of the assistant referee and the man in the middle are becoming an embarrassment to the club and Rodgers' needs to stamp this out quick.

Suarez rightly received a Yellow card for sarcastically applauding the referee when he didn't get another decision for falling over like a sack of potatoes and his woeful shooting was – well, woeful.

The less said about it the better.

This constant moaning that he thinks he is not getting his just desserts is rubbing off on the crowd. For most of the match you could hear a pin drop. The Kop applaud effort and commitment but they know what they are seeing and however the manager tries to dress it up and defend his player there will come a point where the fans support dries up.

It's excruciating to watch Suarez fall over at every opportunity and plead to the referee with outstretched arms.

Ronaldo used to do this stuff, but then he grew up and fans started to respect his game rather than his amateur dramatics. I hope someone manages to talk sense into Suarez before he alienates his dwindling fan base.

As for the rest, Shelvey ran around like a man possessed but with little effect, Johnson's touch deserted him and Enrique had a poor game after looking so promising against City.

Agger let his man go for the first corner and was duly punished; he was also rounded far too easily for the second goal. Gerrard missed a penalty – although it was well saved by Foster who guessed correctly.

When you see the difference that Sturridge makes to the shape of the team by playing two up front it makes you wonder why Borini wasn't started in place of Shelvey?

If those were the minuses in the plus column we have an ever improving and confident Stewart Downing, ditto Henderson and Lucas has started to come back to his ball robbing best.

Overall it was a bad day at the office and anyone dreaming of a fourth place finish and Champions league football had their sorry arse handed to them on a plate.
