Newcastle V Liverpool preview.
I've lampooned Andy Carroll to date and it's time for the player to step up to the plate and become a man.
I don't mean that to be in a dispariging way. It's about time he started putting his weight about and fuck what anyone else says.
I was watching some old video of him playing for Newcastle on sky sports centre today which made me realise exactly what a shadow of a player Carroll has become.
He is nothing like the 6'6" strapping striker that Liverpool purchased for £35 million.
Carroll has become a parody of himself. He needs to let his hair down.
Can you believe today's football accumulator?
When I left the house to take the missus shopping we were up in three games with the two certs yet to make a mark.
My mobile was giving me bad news as I stood waiting for the next round of dress changes and it didn't alter much by the time I got home.
For the record the three outside bets all made it and the two certs failed.
Man City failed to win at home after a 20 game winning streak and Arsenal managed to lose to lowly QPR.
What can you do? That's football accumulators. It's hard enough predicting one game let alone five.
So tomorrow's Newcastle V Liverpool game.
I've seen both of the 4-3 wins for Liverpool live on TV and they were fantastic games. This fixture always brings up memories of Fowler and McManaman and that guy Faustino Asprilla who scored a fantastic goal with the outside of his boot to beat David James.
I'll always remember Kevin Keegan slumping over the advertising hoardings when Stan Collymore scored the winner in '96 in the second minute of stoppage time.
Even my girlfriend (still my girlfriend) enjoyed that game.
So should we look forward to another classic?
I don't think so.
Liverpool are down on their luck and any scrappy 1-0 win will do for them whilst Newcastle know that a victory will give them a massive points lead in the race for a Europa league spot.
I can't see Dalglish settling for anything other than a draw. And a draw would be a good result for the Reds given their current run of form.
Andy Carroll to score?
Don't bet on it.
