Blackburn to gain a vital 3 points?
Once again into the fray!
Liverpool managed to salvage a point from their home game against Aston Villa on Saturday and stop the rot but once again they really should have won this game against a Villa side riddled with injuries.
How many games this season can we say the following happened:
Kuyt ballooned over the bar when it was easier to score. Carroll headed straight at the keeper when heading back across goal would have been easier and a certain goal. Suarez hit the post. Henderson fired into row Z.
It's just about every game this season. 33 times so far Liverpool have managed to hit the woodwork.
Is that just unlucky or a sign of terrible finishing?
Against Blackburn tonight Liverpool will need to play well to take anything from this game. In my opinion Steve Keane has done a good job at Blackburn with limited resources and a hostile home crowd that did their best to hound him out of the club.
He has acted with dignity and positivity and I'm hoping that they escape the drop.
Liverpool are in a bit of a spot tonight because they need to keep players fresh for what is sure to be a frenzied and titanic struggle in the FA cup semi final on Saturday but they know they really need to win tonights game to take some pressure off of both players and manager and get the Kop back singing from the same hymn sheet.
Positives for Liverpool are:
Daniel Agger is back and he is one of Liverpools most assured performers. He is another Alan Hansen. At least he would be if he can stay free from injury and get an extended run in the side.
Agger made the difference for Liverpool on Saturday and it would be a major plus if he starts the game tonight.
What other positives are there? Well um. None really.
Liverpool have a reserve goalie who has seen only 90 minutes of first team action this season. An awful goal difference due to the constant passing up of chances as mentioned above. A 35 million striker who plays like Bambi on ice. Midfielders shorn of confidence and shooting ability and their best player out injured long term.
On top of that they will have one eye on Saturdays game against Everton.
