Barcelona V Chelsea Preview

K Updated

Can Di Matteo pull off a spectacular victory?

Champions League Semi Final 2nd Leg.

This has got to be one of the most eagerly awaited matches for Chelsea fans and they really believe that they are going to go through.

For the neutral this is going to be an enthralling game and worth banishing the missus to the spare room and soap land for.

The problem for Chelsea is going to be how do they defend a 0-1 lead for ninety minutes?

At the Nou Camp you would have said they had no chance until you saw how poorly they tried to break down Real Madrid on Saturday evening.

So, two losses in a row for Barcelona and the maths say that Chelsea will not be able to make it a third.

In fact the last time Barcelona lost three matches in a row was back in 2003 and that was way before the current crop of players took to the pitch.

More tellingly Barcelona have had more possession in their last two hundred and forty games than the opposition which shows exactly what Chelsea will be up against tonight.

For sports betting fans there is not much value to be had out of this match unless you go with the 5/2 that Chelsea will progress to the final but if you are thinking that is a decent bet then you should really have got on Chelsea to win the FA Cup and Champions league double at 18/1 when I tipped it last.

The only fly in the ointment as far as Barcelona are concerned is that the Chelsea manager, Roberto Di Matteo, has led a charmed life since they sacked Villas Boas and this is going to be Custers’ last stand.

Barcelona are going to lay siege to the Chelsea goal tonight and surely they will not be so unlucky this time around.

Incidentally Chelsea’s best player from the first tie – Ashley Cole – is on a yellow card and stands to miss the final if he picks up another booking.

I’m not going to be placing a bet on this match but guess what?

Yep, our man Wayne is so convinced that Barcelona are going to win he is putting another 1k bet down on Barcelona progressing.

After winning on Saturday Wayne has £2,285.71 in the bankroll and he’s putting his money where his mouth his.

The best odds for a Barcelona victory tonight are to be found at Paddy Power – they give you a generous 2/7 that Messi and co will progress to the final.
