One of the questions I wanted answered before i did this review was why Darren Bent isn't being considered for a starting berth but he is out injured so it makes the question irrelevant.
I found the answer in my research though: Paul Lambert is Scottish and Scottish managers are liable to be determined and obstinate to the point of self destruction.
Ferguson, Strachan, Dalglish, Lambert et al.
Once they have made up their mind trying to change it is like trying to get blood from a stone - it just isn't going to happen.
If you look at the Norwich side that Lambert took to two promotions that team was made up of hard working but fairly skilfull players who all had a point to prove. These were players hungry for success and they were given their opportunity to shine by Lambert.
I'm not saying that Darren Bent isn't prepared to work hard. Just that Lambert is prepared to put his faith in players that you and I probably wouldn't. That is why he is such a good manager.
Points on the board are the only thing that matters now and Villa don't have enough of them. Third from bottom they are in real danger of going down and we all know how hard it is to get back up again.
There are potentially six or seven teams duking it out for survival and a win here for Villa would see them climb out of the relegation places.
Realistically I could see them geting a draw here but the money has to go on City to win this game against a Villa side that has so many of their experienced players on the treatment table.
