Betting Summary

Date Placed
April 10, 2013
April 12, 2013

This weekends football accumulator throws up several interesting decisions to be made. If we are to have any chance of dancing with glee in the pub at 5PM Saturday afternoon then we are going to have to work hard for our acca because this Saturdays Premiership fixtures are straightforward picks and it is going to be difficult to extract value for our bet.

Here are your games:

Everton v Queens Park Rangers

Arsenal v Norwich

Southampton v West Ham

Reading v Liverpool

Aston Villa v Fulham

Four home wins and an away win for Liverpool? That was my initial reaction when I compiled the fixture list. What does that return?

£10 returns £113.17. Hmmm. What do we think? Is this:

A: The return we want?

B: The results we think will actually happen?

Well it is certainly not the return we want. Not for a £10 stake.

Arsenal are nailed on 1/4 favourites to beat Norwich and I'm not going to argue with that. Whilst Liverpool are 1/2 to beat a woeful Reading team and whilst I think Liverpool will win this game I wouldn't be putting my months salary on it anytime soon. Thier propensity to fuck up on the road - indeed just to make a complete mess of things, has become too frequent to be ignored.

So if we take those two fixtures out of the equation we are left with:

Everton v QPR

Southampton v West Ham

Aston Villa v Fulham

Now then. I am going to do something which comes totally unnaturally and shoot for the moon.

Everton v QPR could well end in a draw. After the way West Ham played against Liverpool - almost snatching the points at the death - they could well draw or win against Southampton, A draw being the favoured possibility.

Villa v Fulham could also be a drawn game.
