Saturdays Premier League football gets underway with a 12:30pm kick off at the Liberty stadium which sees Swansea trying desperately to break their five match win less streak.

By stark contrast their visitors are in buoyant mood and flying high after their destruction of Hull in a fixture that many predicted they would slip up in. But it seems that new Liverpool are not so generous as the insipid teams that would capitulate to inferior opposition so maddeningly.

Jurgen Klopp has intimated that Lorius Karius will start between the sticks for the Reds and whilst he has yet to be properly tested, first indications are that the new Liverpool stopper provides a calmer presence at the rear and is much more comfortable on the ball than the unpredictable Mignolet.

For all his faults the Belgian has improved greatly over the past six months but his insistence on taking a touch before clearing the ball sends jitters through every Liverpool supporter. If Karius can help to stem the flow of goals that come through opposition corners then there could be an extended spell on the bench for Mignolet.

The player that caught my eye in the Hull game was Klavan whose unfussy defending style is a massive improvement over the clumsy looking Sakho. If Lovren is fit then he'll probably partner Matip in defence but Klavan is a great option and his incisive forward passing was good to see.

And What Of The Makeshift Left Back?

James Milner is excelling on the wing and making fools out of those Twitter fans who are too quick to offer their profound judgements. That he didn't get man of the match against Hull was testament to the overall high level of the Liverpool performance on Saturday. Lallana is in the form of his life with three goals in seven matches for the Reds.

A front line of Firminho, Mane and Coutinho indicates how far Liverpool have progressed under Klopp and there is likely to be another substitute cameo from Daniel Sturridge in this game. That the former indispensable striker can't start a game for Klopp is hugely indicative of where Liverpool are going as a team.

As For The Betting:

This is a game that would probably have a draw as the most common bet in seasons past but things have changed under the German manager.

Liverpool now top the charts for the most goals (71), Possession (58.8%) and tackles made per game (22.4) since Klopp took charge and the loss against Burnley is starting to look increasingly like an aberration. Liverpool managed over 80% possession in that game despite losing 2-0.

Title challengers? Manchester City look like the team to catch but if Liverpool can carry on waltzing through opposition defences with their brilliant brand of Fizzball then they may be in the running.

With no Europa League/Champions League distractions odds on a Liverpool title keep tumbling.
