You don’t need to go to the bookies to find out where the money is going for this game. Check out the forum match threads at http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=312853.200 and http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/liverpool-forum-predicting-huge-demolition-of-sunlun.896099/
Liverpool are seriously chasing a premier league title for the first time since the new format was introduced and Sunderland are staring down the barrel of the Championship coming off a woeful performance against Norwich.
Yes I know that Liverpool finished runners up once but they were never going to catch United that season and this title chase has fans starting to seriously believe they can do it. With Spurs, City and Chelsea all to visit Anfield this is going to be the most memorable title run in for Reds fans since the Premier League era began.
Let’s not over egg the pudding though and take it one game at a time – beginning with this visit of Sunderland who are shorn of two of their best players.
Borini is out on the basis that he is on loan from Liverpool and cannot play against his parent club (what a stupid rule that is!) and Alonso is banned so a poor squad is made even poorer by those omissions.
In the last six games Liverpool have scored 5, 3, 3, 3, 3 and 6 goals. Can you see it being 0 against Sunderland and can you see them nicking a goal?
This is the first home game for a month for Liverpool, under the night lights and it is going to be the most vocal crowd of the season. The passion meter is going to be pushing into the red zone and along with both sets of fans I’m giving Sunderland no hope whatsoever. If they can keep the goals conceded under four then they will be doing well.
The bet is how many goals will the Liverpool attack help themselves to?
If you think it’s going to be 6-0 then you are in good company because those odds are a lowly 33/1 however a 7-0 scoreline will give you 100/1 at Stanjames £10 wins £1,000 and Christmas will have come early for you.
The best odds you can get on an unlikely Sunderland victory are 18/1 but they will need several beachballs and lots of help from the referee to achieve that. This is not the toothless Liverpool of the past couple of seasons, they have racked up 23 goals in a six match winning streak and it is not going to end here.
I envisage Sterling and Johnson giving a nightmare to whoever plays on the right wing in place of Alonso and that is where the initial goal threat is going to come from.
It’s lambs to the slaughter people and the only question you have to ask yourself is how many will Liverpool score?
