The last game of the season in the Conference North sees North Ferriby and Telford United taking their epic battle for the title to the wire.
Telford have a slender one point lead over Ferriby after clawing a draw whilst Ferriby lost 2-0 on Saturday but are 3 goals behind in the difference stakes and so they really need to win to guarantee their first title in 60 years and gain promotion to the Conference Premier.
After last season’s dismal end to the season when Telford managed a thirty game winless streak, manager Liam Watson has replaced the entire squad with the exception of long serving keeper Ryan Young who is rightly considered to be the games best non league stopper and it has reaped reward as they stand atop of the league with one game to play.
Both Ferriby and United will play their last game at home and on paper Ferriby have the more difficult fixture entertaining seventh placed Brackley Town.
Two seasons ago we were present for Telford’s last gasp winner from Phil Trainer that gained a play off promotion to the Conference Premier and that game was a lockout with just over 6,000 fans turning up to roar the Bucks to victory.
Saturday will be the same again with the club urging supporters to get to the ground early to avoid being disappointed. Telford have a supporter base that many Conference teams would be very envious of.
Turnstiles open at 1PM and with a bumper home crowd to spur them on I’m expecting Telford to win this game and take the Conference North title.
