Ricky Hatton v Vyacheslav Senchenko Boxing Betting Tips

Essential Betting Facts

Competition
Boxing

Comebacks in boxing generally end in disaster. There are the notable exceptions for example George Foreman coming back after punching the bible for ten years and becoming the preacher in the ring – regaining his IBF and WBA titles.

But Foreman came back at a time when there was a dearth of heavyweight boxing talent and there was little opposition to his huge frame dishing out the beatings.

Those that have tried to comeback and failed include Mike Tyson who was finally sent into retirement in 2006 and it doesn't matter how big your name is if you don't do the right things and train the right way harnessing hard endeavour with talent a split second lapse of concentration can spell disaster.

Ricky Hatton says he is more determined and in better shape than he was in 2005 and has trained harder for this fight than any other. Looking at him you can see that he is in superb condition and maybe as he fights the dying light of youth – at age 33 he is probably in the zone where boxing "nous" and ability are in perfect harmony – he has finally laid his demons to rest.

Hatton is well known to have drink and drugs problems, often ballooning in size in between fights but those dark days are apparently all behind him now and he is concentrating on the boxing.

But there is one forgotten aspect to this Saturdays fight screened live on Prime Time - his opponent.

With a record of F33 W32 and one solitary loss Vyacheslav Senchenko is certainly no mug winning the Welterweight title in 2009. He lost his WBA world title to Paulie Malignaggi on the 29th of April 2012 as he succumbed to a barrage of faster punches and the fight was eventually stopped when the swelling on his eye left him unable to see.

Hatton has been out of the ring for over three years now – May 2009 when he lost to Pacquiao and he hasn't chosen an easy opponent by any means for his comeback fight.

With no recent track record to guide us it is difficult to find an edge for either fighter so betting on this one is for the purists. My gut says Hatton will win this convincingly but can he stay on the wagon long enough to reclaim his world title?

Hatton is 2/7 at Ladbrokes to win this fight
